Third Stage: Consolidation and Restoration of Ecosystems - 2008 Onward
The nursery and ecosytems restoration programs were initiated. Beginning of consolidation of the Chaiguata - Caleta Inio route and lodges.
The initiative comprises the design
of the urban expansion of the
Caleta Inio cove, which includes
the Parque Tantauco Museum
and an operationsbase that will
enable research on the blue whale.
First Stage: Planning 2005-2006
Once work on the Parque Tantauco was initiated, the “Conservation Plan for the Park” was drawn up with the advise of the Corporación Chile Ambiente, and the constitution was drafted.
Second Stage: Planning 2006-2007
Special areas for accommodating visitors, researchers and tourists were created. During this period hiking trails were built, as well as access routes to the Caleta Inio cove, and the Yaldad and Chaiguata lakes. Building on the campgrounds was begun, (fireplaces, observation tower and toilets.)
Points to Bear in Mind...
Currrently, Parque Tantauco has entered into partnerships with several universities. Future plans include the construction of a research center in Inio for academics and students participating in projects related to biodiversity, land ecology, coastal zones, marine resources, archaeological studies, among others.
